Snowshoeing in Iceland – an adventure around the Troll Peninsula and a full tour of the island

April/May

Iceland – an adventure from another planet. Breathtaking views, a full tour of the island, snowshoe hikes from the seashore and complete merging with nature.

A visit to Iceland is a real experience close to nature. Far from civilization, we will enjoy the unique volcanic landscape with breathtaking views and walks starting from the ocean coast. The starting points are often directly from the coastal roads or from small side valleys where there is infrastructure. Most of the peaks are about 1000 meters above sea level.

The base for our program will be a simple, typical Icelandic house, located in the area of the town of Akureyri. Relaxing on the veranda after another wonderful day of skiing with a cappuccino or a cold beer in hand, against the backdrop of the almost never-setting sun, is a real delight for the soul. The house has an equipped kitchen, which will be at our disposal. The idea is to shop at nearby stores offering various local delicacies, which we will prepare ourselves. We will split the shopping costs between us. Of course, we can also visit some of the few local restaurants, on our way back from some of the tours. All this gives us the freedom to be flexible each day, without being tied to fixed meal times.

The program is suitable for both people with experience in snowshoeing and for complete beginners, who are up for adventure.

Note: We keep the rights to change the program in case of force majeure circumstances.

* The price is per person with a minimum of 5 registered.

* Reservation should be no later than 30 days before the program. Reservation is considered confirmed if payment is processed within 3 days after booking.

Guide's Perspective

Iceland — a place of raw beauty, volcanoes, glaciers, waterfalls, and endless winter landscapes that make you forget everyday life. For me, the most impressive things are the light, the extraordinary variety of views that feel like they are from another world, and the welcoming people who make Iceland simultaneously wild and cosy. I always return with great pleasure to just below the Arctic Circle for this snowshoe adventure.

Day 1

Flight to Reykjavik. Late arrival and overnight stay near the airport.

Day 2

Transfer by minibus to Akureyri (approximately 5.30 am). In the evening we check into our house.

Day 3

Today we head to the area of the peaks Jökulkollur (1,045 m) and Saudaneshnjukar (988 m)

Day 4

Change of scenery - today we go to the peak Kaldbakur (1,173 m). A unique day with views of the places where we were yesterday. The start and finish are on the seashore.

Day 5

Today's tour starts in a completely different part of the island. Transfer about 1 hour to the Olafsfjördur area, one of the northernmost points of the island and a walk in the area. 4-5 hours.

Day 6

The last day of skiing is planned to be in the area of the winter capital of North Iceland - Dalvik. A mandatory stop after that is the local pub with a unique fish soup.

Day 7

Today we will explore the Lake Myvatn area. After lunch, transfer and overnight in Hof.

Day 8

A day dedicated to tours of the South Coast of the island. And there is so much to see there. Late flight to Bulgaria.

What Our Guests Say

★★★★★
Unique experience

Unique experience. The contrast between volcanic wasteland, green lush meadows with sheep and horses, all kind of waterfalls and the biggest glacier in Europe combined in one place. I was pretty much out of my comfort zone but this will be something I won't forget. Thank you for giving us this great opportunity!

Awesome ski touring week in Iceland

Awesome ski touring week in Iceland. What made it possible was the excellent preparation from the guide (Stanislav) each morning before heading out: weather conditions, snow condition, how the group is feeling for the day, etc.
