Snowkite in Bulgaria – Vitosha and Rila

February

Six days of snowkiting on skis or snowboard across the winter plateaus of Vitosha and Rila – open fields, wind, mountain huts and the Rila Monastery.

Looking for a way to explore Bulgaria with a kite and skis or a snowboard? Join us for this unforgettable journey through Bulgaria’s winter wonderland. The itinerary combines the Vitosha and Rila mountains and is designed to visit some of the best snowkite spots in the country.

Vitosha is a beautiful mountain right next to Sofia, known for its scenic trails, panoramic views and year-round outdoor activities. Easily reached from the city, it offers forests, alpine landscapes, ski areas and the famous Cherni vrah peak.

Rila is the highest mountain of the Balkan Peninsula. Its name is of Thracian origin and means “well-watered” mountain. It is also home to the Rila Monastery, founded in the 10th century by St. Ivan Rilski – the spiritual, educational and cultural centre of Bulgaria for centuries and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1983.

This program is for people with some or good snowkite experience. It is not a snowkite school – if you’d like lessons, please contact us. With low or no wind we organise other activities, such as on- and off-piste skiing, thermal baths or snowmobiling.

If you need additional accommodation in Sofia before and/or after the program, we can arrange it – just let us know in advance.

Note: The program may change depending on the weather, wind and snow conditions, as well as the group’s fitness.

* The price is per person. The program runs with a minimum of 2 participants. Maximum participants – 3.

* Reservation should be no later than 30 days before the program. Reservation is considered confirmed if payment is processed within 3 days after booking.

What Our Guests Say

★★★★★
Thank the snow gods, then thank Stan

The snow gods were kind this weekend — that's on them, not me. But Stan and the Basecamp Tours crew being absolutely dialled in? That's every single time, no asterisk. Smart route choices, safety that never feels paranoid, and feedback that actually makes you better. The snow is a gamble. Basecamp Tours is not.
