Sail past towering glaciers, anchor in secluded bays and hike through pristine wilderness under the midnight sun, always keeping an eye out for polar bears, whales and Arctic wildlife.

Guide's Perspective
The midnight sun, whales and polar bears, and the traces of early settlers who tried to make their home on this wild coastline – Svalbard by sail and on foot is an Arctic adventure without equal. The feeling of being at the edge of the world is completely real, and it is that particular feeling that always makes me return with great anticipation.
Board the yacht in Longyearbyen. Meet the crew and your expedition guide, complete the safety briefings (including polar bear safety and ship routines) and set sail into Isfjorden.
Sail south to the Russian mining settlement of Barentsburg for a cultural stop. Then anchor and go ashore for a hike across the tundra to the historical ruins of Colesbukta.
Sail along the rugged west coast of Prins Karls Forland. Anchor in a protected bay for a coastal hike along beaches often frequented by resting walruses and rich birdlife.
Navigate deep into scenic Krossfjorden. Go ashore near a calving glacier front for a moraine hike up to a high ridge with sweeping views of the ice face.
Visit Ny-Ålesund, the world's northernmost functional civilian settlement and a hub of Arctic research. A gentle historical walk around the village and a hike up the nearby tundra slopes.
Sail north into Liefdefjorden (the Fjord of Love). Cruise close to the multi-kilometre-wide face of Monaco Glacier, then anchor for a wilderness hike on the red sandstone hills.
Return south into Isfjorden. Anchor near Alkhornet, a dramatic cliff teeming with thousands of nesting seabirds, and hike beneath it looking for Arctic foxes. Return to Longyearbyen.
A final breakfast on board, goodbye to the crew, and transfer to the airport or time to explore the town before your flight home.
What Our Guests Say
Thank the snow gods, then thank Stan
The snow gods were kind this weekend — that's on them, not me. But Stan and the Basecamp Tours crew being absolutely dialled in? That's every single time, no asterisk. Smart route choices, safety that never feels paranoid, and feedback that actually makes you better. The snow is a gamble. Basecamp Tours is not.
