Winter at these latitudes comes early – the first snow covers the ground as early as October or early November – that’s because Siberia is so close. And the “pukhlyak”, as the locals call the fluffy snow, sits light and airy for a long time on the slopes of the Altai Mountains. For these reasons, we chose to open the ski touring season earlier than usual with an incredible adventure in Central Asia in December.
